We all are in line
We live in a world where we line up for almost everything. Before the pandemic we gathered in many places. There are few activities that do not require our standing in a line. Almost always there is a cattle chute where we are conditioned to get in line. Much of the time it’s well ventilated or maybe even air conditioned. There are often conversations among those nearby. Subjects covered may be politics, religion, the economy, but more frequently it’s the safe topic of weather. Some settings even offer a big screen TV to view while waiting your turn. Sometimes we are given a “buzzer” that holds our place in line as we wait. Often, we have a basket, or a cart filled with goods for a clerk to count or scan our selections. There are those behind us waiting in the line for their turn with the clerk. We wait our turn in amusement parks, scared to death of the roller coaster, ballparks, field houses, and a host of other entertainment venues. We drive our cars up to the stop sign and again ...
